In today’s world, a focus on self is causing the deterioration of relationships at various levels, with nations and communities turning inward due to the rise of “Identity Politics” and “New Tribalism.” Cancel culture, defined as publicly rejecting or boycotting individuals for perceived unacceptable views, intensifies this trend at a personal level, contributing to relationship breakdowns.

This emphasizes the importance of concern for relationships within the body of Christ, as worldly influences surround us. Allowing self-interest to guide interactions among members could hinder the collective growth toward embodying the fullness of Christ’s stature (Ephesians 4:13). The Apostle Paul emphasizes the need for maturity and unity within the body, especially as the world fragments into smaller identity groups.

Loving one another within the body is a crucial aspect, rooted in being “born of God” and expressing God’s love through the spirit, not just personal preferences. Recognizing the value of all members, even those perceived as weaker, is essential, as God composed the body with diverse strengths and weaknesses.

In a world of fragmenting social conditions, the church is called to prevent worldly influences and prioritize care for one another (1 Corinthians 12:25). As challenges in relationships may arise in 2024, the commandment to love God and one’s brother requires sincere action, not just words (1 John 4:21).
