This is a 30 minute podcast group discussion about why there are two Holy Days in the Days of Unleavened Bread. The day maps to the Israelite’s crossing of the Red Sea. A greater symbolic meaning is addressed in Hebrews 12:2, where Paul said that we look “to Christ as the author and finisher of our faith”. He is the beginning or originator. He starts a work in us, and He will finish it. The 1st Holy Day of ULB marks the beginning of our journey, as the Israelites marched out of Egypt that evening. God acts first to redeem in the Passover. We respond by putting out sin (leavening), and take in Christ’s righteousness (unleavened bread) along the way. The Israelites ended up trapped against the Red Sea, and needed God to take them through it. We are entirely reliant on God to take us through from sin to righteousness. It’s not a free ride; we have to pedal. But we can’t do it ourselves. God works with us. He is not a disapproving, judgmental observer. He is with you, supporting you, engineering your success. You do your part, but He does the heavy lifting.
