The Decline and Fall of the American Empire – Steve McCann leadingtolife.org

In his essay, Sir John Glubb identifies six stages in the rise and fall of empires, drawing from 3,000 years of historical data. These stages offer a lens through which to understand the trajectory of nations, including the United States.

The first stage, the Age of Pioneers, parallels the Revolutionary War and the nation’s founding. Following this, the Age of Conquests symbolizes the Western Expansion to the Pacific Ocean. The Age of Commerce signifies industrialization and the evolution of a dominant middle class, while the Age of Affluence reflects the 20th-century surge in living standards. As global leaders in arts, medicine, and technology, the United States entered the Age of Intellect.

However, for over three decades, America has been increasingly entrenched in the Age of Decadence. This stage is marked by debauchery, defensiveness, pessimism, materialism, and a weakening of religion. Symptoms include societal elites consumed by excessive consumption and a decline in happiness and fulfillment.

Debauchery becomes pervasive, with an abnormal obsession with sex and an increase in drug and alcohol abuse. Moreover, societies witness growing disparities between rich and poor, exacerbated by an undisciplined military and internal political divisions. Unassimilated foreign influxes further strain societal cohesion.

These internal factors precipitate the decline of empires, culminating in defeat by external enemies. The American populace, largely unaware of this precarious situation, faces the potential entrenchment of Marxist policies. Unchecked corruption, economic instability, and societal chaos loom large.

The only remaining hope to steer America away from the precipice of decline would be a humble and repentant nation turning back to the God of the Bible.
